Wizkid Announces New Album ‘Morayo’ Ahead of Louis Vuitton Show at Paris Fashion Week

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid recently shared exciting news about his upcoming album, ‘Morayo,’ in an exclusive interview with Esquire UK. The interview took place as Wizkid prepared to attend his first Louis Vuitton runway show at Paris Fashion Week.

In the Esquire UK feature, published on Wednesday, the Grammy-winning artist discussed his new album and his relationship with Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director, Pharrell Williams. Known for hits like “Essence” and “Ginger,” Wizkid revealed that his album is named ‘Morayo’ in honor of his mother.

“It’s very important for people to know where the source of my magic comes from. I’m African, I’m Nigerian; that’s my blood, that’s my DNA,” Wizkid stated. ‘Morayo’ is a Yoruba word meaning “I see joy,” reflecting the album’s deeply personal nature.

Describing the album, Wizkid emphasized its personal significance, saying, “I hope it lifts spirits and spreads positive energy.”

When asked about potential collaborations, Wizkid shared a philosophical view, “We’re meant to collaborate – that’s the essence of humans. We’re here to work together.”

The interview also drew parallels between Wizkid and Pharrell Williams, highlighting their shared positive outlooks and family-oriented values. As a father, Wizkid expressed his desire to inspire his children, saying, “I’m trying to raise champions. I instil that into their minds […] that God has put them here on purpose.”

For the Louis Vuitton show, Wizkid showcased a new look from the pre-SS25 collection, featuring a V-neck Fair Isle jumper, tailored shorts, and a shirt. He personalized the ensemble with an ivory tie and white sneakers, replacing the lookbook’s collegiate tie and loafers.

Reflecting on his fashion influences, Wizkid credited “TV and magazines” and his experience growing up with twelve sisters. His attendance at the Louis Vuitton show, themed “Le Monde Est À Vous” (The World is Yours), complements his motivational approach to life, often sharing messages like “Nothing is too far out of reach” and “If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”

Wizkid’s forthcoming album and his presence at Paris Fashion Week underline his dynamic influence in both the music and fashion industries.
