The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) presented certified true copies (CTCs) of the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma’s certificate and statement of results before the governorship election petition tribunal in Abuja on Thursday. In response to a subpoena served by the tribunal, the council acted to produce and submit the records on Governor Uzodimma’s behalf. Omifenwa Tajudeen Tunbosu, the Head of Administration at WAEC Headquarters, presented the documents to the tribunal.
A CTC of Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika’s West African Examinations Council General Certificate of Education, bearing certificate No. SG 904497 dated June 1982, was the first of two documents that Tunbosu showed.

The second was a confirmation of the results statement dated December 18, 2014, which WAEC had previously sent to the Senate President’s office and delivered on January 7, 2015. It was signed by Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika. In his testimony before the trial, Tunbosu further stated that the WAEC certificate belongs to Governor Hope Uzodimma and attested to its authenticity. The tribunal presided over by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay then received the documents as a submitted document and entered them into evidence.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is contesting Uzodimma’s election victory, as is its candidate from the previous Imo State gubernatorial election, Samuel Anyanwu. Non-qualification is one of the arguments used by the PDP and Anyanwu to contest the election. Among other things, they claim that Uzodimma falsified his WAEC certificate.
