The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has appointed Mrs. Chikodi Emenalom, the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties, as the Acting Head of Service for Imo State’s Civil Service. This development was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Oguwuike Nwachukwu.
Mrs. Emenalom takes over from Barrister Raymond Ucheoma, who has retired from service. Her career spans decades, as she has gathered extensive experience across various state ministries since joining the Imo State Civil Service as an Information Officer in 1990.
A graduate of Linguistics from the former Imo State University, Okigwe, in 1988, Mrs. Emenalom’s rise through the ranks saw her promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary in 2018. Throughout her career, she has served in numerous ministries, including Information, Finance, Agriculture, Women Affairs, and Special Duties, as well as holding roles in Government House.

Notably, during the 2020-2021 Coronavirus pandemic, Mrs. Emenalom was appointed the State Communicator for the World Bank-Assisted program aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19 in Imo State.
Mrs. Emenalom also brings a wealth of experience from her role as Chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State chapter, and as a member of both the National Institute and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Governor Uzodimma expressed his confidence in Mrs. Emenalom’s ability to excel in her new role and urged her to leverage her broad experience to improve the Civil Service. Her appointment takes effect immediately.
