Michael Chidozie, a 26-year-old US-based Nigerian bodybuilder, has tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident involving his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae.
Following an argument on March 21, Chidozie was shot multiple times by his wife, leading to a devastating spinal injury. Despite fighting for his life for 18 days, he sadly passed away on April 8, as reported by Daily Mail.
According to reports, the altercation occurred inside their Houston apartment, witnessed by their young children. Chidozie was found with gunshot wounds and rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, where he remained on life support until his passing.
Details from court documents reveal the severity of the attack, with Chidozie enduring four gunshot wounds, including two to the torso, one to the arm, and one to the chest.
Keaiirra, 28, was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident. However, her charges have not been upgraded in light of Chidozie’s death.

Claiming self-defense, Keaiirra stated that she feared for her life when Chidozie followed her into their bedroom during the argument, prompting her to retrieve a pistol and fire in defense.
Despite being released on bail, Keaiirra is scheduled to appear in court on May 23 to address the charges against her.
In the wake of Chidozie’s passing, his family is grappling with the daunting task of raising funds to repatriate his body to Nigeria for burial. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family during this challenging time.
