On Sunday, March 3, Minister of Works David Umahi declared that the southwest’s residents had no justification for joining other parts of the nation in protesting President Bola Tinubu due to the nation’s growing cost of living.
According to Umahi, the President has put an end to the ongoing conflicts between farmers and herders in the region, which hampered food production and resulted in starvation while the conflicts were ongoing.
At an interview with media, the minister made this claim at his native Uburu, in the Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi state.
He pointed out that President Tinubu has begun addressing the high cost of living in the nation through a number of policies and initiatives. This is the result of the cumulative effect of previous governments.

He said that the Tinubu administration heavily favored the southeast by placing sons and daughters of the region in positions of power, including the appointment of the region’s first minister of works.
Umahi clarified that despite the administration’s numerous initiatives in the area, the Southwest has no moral basis to join the protests against the President due to the dire circumstances facing the nation.
He urged everyone in the zone to join the protests against the President and not to be seduced by any organization or area.
