Two Killed in Car Accident on Onitsha-Nteje-Awka Expressway in Anambra

A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two individuals, a male and a female, on the Onitsha-Nteje-Awka Expressway, opposite Zone 13 Police Headquarters, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State. The fatal crash occurred late Friday, involving a Toyota Camry with registration number UWN531AS and a commercial IVECO Turbostar tanker with registration number ADM619XA.

According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the accident was attributed to brake failure, which led to the Toyota Camry losing control and colliding with the tanker. The crash resulted in the immediate death of two occupants of the Camry, while two other male adults involved were unharmed.

Margaret Onabe, Acting Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra Sector Command, confirmed the incident. She reported that three male adults and one female adult were involved in the collision. Sadly, one male and one female succumbed to their injuries, while the others escaped unhurt.

“The likely cause of the crash was brake failure and loss of control. The Toyota Camry reportedly failed to brake properly, leading to the vehicle ramming into the tanker,” Onabe stated.
