At Nwezenyi, in the Abakiliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, there was a flurry of jubilation on Thursday night following the rescue and reunion of two kidnapped children who went missing on January 22, 2024, with their parents.
On Sunday, January 4, 2024, Ngozi Nwibo, a seven-year-old victim of abduction, was freed from captivity at Oba, Idemili L.G.A. in Anambra State. The female abductor was apprehended and taken to the Ebonyi State Police Command Headquarters in Abakiliki.
After making a confessional statement, she was sent to Lagos State, where the woman who had purchased her managed to avoid imprisonment and the second victim, Chinaza Nwachukwu, age three, was also saved.
Speaking at his home as friends, family, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate with them, Chinaza Nwachukwu’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Nwachukwu, whose happiness had no limits, thanked God for saving their stolen daughter.
Mr. Simon Nwachukwu claimed that despite spending a significant sum of money on his daughter’s recuperation and the police inquiry, nothing could be worth their child’s life.

Nwachukwu urged the Ebonyi State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, and pertinent law enforcement organizations to make sure that justice was served for those responsible for the heinous act, in order to serve as a warning to others.
