The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, has confirmed the tragic deaths of a Zenith Bank staff member, Victor Udensi, and two others in Umuahia on Monday. The incident occurred when Udensi, who was in a Keke, was attacked by armed men near Isi Court Axis of Olokoro in Umuahia South at around 8pm. Udensi had resisted when the hoodlums were trying to force him into his car trunk, leading to the attackers shooting him in the back and leaving him bleeding.
The attackers then targeted another driver, attempting to forcefully take his car key. When the driver resisted, the armed men shot him, killing him instantly. While fleeing the scene towards Ubakala, the gunmen encountered a Keke they felt was obstructing their escape and fatally shot the driver.
An eyewitness reported that passersby rushed Udensi to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after treatment began. The police commissioner assured that a manhunt for the assailants had been launched and that the criminals would soon be arrested. While parading some criminal suspects at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia on Thursday, CP Isa assured that justice would be served.
