Tragedy as Ogbete Market Chairman Shot and Killed in Enugu

The Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA), Mr. Stephen Aniagu, was tragically killed by unidentified gunmen in Enugu.

 

The unfortunate event took place at Moses Ogbodo Junction, located near Topland Market in the Amaechi area of Enugu South Local Government, according to local reports.

 

Eyewitnesses say that the incident occurred around 7 PM on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, when the chairman, Mr. Aniagu was believed to be heading home after the day’s business at the market.

 

“We heard gunfire and immediately fled the area. When the situation calmed down, we found his body on the ground, and his car was nowhere to be found,” said a witness who requested anonymity.

 

The witness further revealed that Mr. Aniagu had been shot several times, and his body bore multiple gunshot wounds, indicating a targeted attack.

 

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the Ogbete market community as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.
