Trader Shot Dead In Onitsha Market, Anambra State

The state Anti-touting Squad members shot and killed a trader at the Science Equipment Market, Head Bridge, Onitsha, according to the Anambra Police Command.

Several more people were hurt, according to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command public relations officer, who verified the event to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Ikenga, the incident occurred at the Head Bridge market on Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m. Aderemi Adeoye, the state’s commissioner of police, has requested an investigation into the events.

According to him, the commissioner of police has ordered the immediate transfer of a reported murder incident that happened at the Head Bridge market.

“Our officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Head Bridge, on receipt of the information, they got to the scene and saw a young man in a pool of his blood while another was injured. “The victims were rushed to the hospital where the doctor confirmed one dead.

“The police also recovered six expanded cartridges from the scene,’’ he said.
