Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President and representative of President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit, faced an unexpected change of plans due to a technical fault with his aircraft. As a result, Shettima had to abort his trip on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday. In Shettima’s absence, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will now step in to represent President Tinubu at the prestigious Business Summit in Dallas, Texas.
The statement emphasized that despite the alteration in plans, Vice President Shettima will continue with his other national duties.
The US-Africa Business Summit, scheduled at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, aims to facilitate economic cooperation and explore investment opportunities between the United States and African nations. The event is expected to attract political and business leaders from both regions for high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and plenaries.
