SUMAS Founders’ Day: S’East Mornachs’ Chair Hails Ugwuanyi, Gov. Mbah

The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) received accolades for its unique inception and promising growth trajectory. HRM Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, Chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, commended former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his visionary leadership in establishing SUMAS during his tenure, highlighting the institution’s significance in Enugu State’s educational landscape.

Agubuzu also lauded Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his unwavering support, essential for the university’s survival and advancement. Acknowledging the critical role of founders and supporters, Agubuzu emphasized the exceptional circumstances under which SUMAS was conceived and nurtured to fruition.

Located across four communities in Enugu North Senatorial District, SUMAS stands as a testament to collaborative efforts aimed at bridging gaps in medical and allied health sciences education. Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in supporting SUMAS, envisioning its continued contribution to Enugu State’s development.

Former Governor Ugwuanyi, represented at the event, expressed joy at witnessing the realization of his vision, thanking Governor Mbah for sustaining the momentum through vital funding support. Additionally, Ugwuanyi extended gratitude to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for his consistent backing.
