The South-East Governors Forum, chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, has announced a strategic partnership with Ohanaeze Ndigbo to industrialize the region.
During a consultative meeting held at the Government House in Owerri, Governor Uzodinma expressed the forum’s commitment to supporting Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s initiatives aimed at fostering industrial growth. The meeting brought together notable members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council of Igbo Business Leaders.
Governor Uzodinma emphasized Imo State’s readiness to welcome investors with advanced technology and expertise in gas exploration. He praised Ohanaeze Ndigbo for forming the council, which aims to identify and nurture young Igbo entrepreneurs, create a unified voice for the business community, and collaborate with various agencies to establish a conducive environment for investment in Igbo land.
“I am impressed by the calibre of the delegation, which included Chief Alex Chika Okafor of Chicason Group, Mr. Frank Nneji of ABC Transport Group, Mr. Johnson Chukwu of Cowrie Assets, Darl Uzu of Enyimba Economic City, and Lady Josephine Nwaeze, among other distinguished Igbo business leaders and professionals,” Uzodinma said.

The governor commended the council’s objectives, led by Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a renowned leader and corporate giant. He assured maximum cooperation and support from the South-East Governors Forum, highlighting the forum’s dedication to fostering a 21st-century mindset for technological and industrial advancements in the region.
Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, Chairman of the Council of Igbo Business Leaders, outlined the council’s terms of reference, emphasizing the need for collaboration with regional governments to enhance economic development. He noted that the reluctance of Igbo industrialists to invest in the South-East has contributed to the region’s economic challenges while benefiting other parts of the country.
Ohuabunwa praised the forum’s efforts to stabilize the South-East economy and called for a unified approach to investment policies and practices. “We should see Igbo land as a region with more commonalities than differences, and work together to build leverage and compete effectively with other regions of Nigeria,” he stated.
