In the commercial metropolis of Onitsha, Anambra State, a five-story building under construction in Basden Street, Fegge, collapsed, resulting in a sad tragedy where an unknown number of people were trapped.
According to reports acquired, on Sunday, while some construction workers were on the top floor, the building, which was supposed to be used for commercial purposes upon completion, fell.
An excavator has been sent over immediately to start clearing rubble and maybe conducting a rescue operation for anyone who could be trapped.
As at the time this report was filed, the cause of the collapse is still unknown.
As of Sunday, when this news was being published, rescue efforts were still underway at the location, however a local stated that only one person had been saved thus far.
Furthermore, as of the time this story was produced, neither the state police command nor the government had released an official statement, thus the circumstances of the incident are still unknown.
