Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the recognition of Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, with the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) for his outstanding performance at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire. In addition to the state honor, Nwabali received a generous N20 million reward during a ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara emphasized his commitment to purposeful governance and administrative efficiency, aiming to foster an environment where individuals like Nwabali can excel and bring pride to Rivers State. He commended Nwabali for his contribution to Nigeria’s success at the AFCON and pledged continued support to inspire further achievements.
Furthermore, Governor Fubara extended his generosity to the Super Eagles’ crew with a N30 million gift, demonstrating his dedication to sports excellence. The Rivers Hoopers Basketball Team, champions of the Louis Edem National League competition, also received a substantial N50 million reward, highlighting the governor’s commitment to sports development in the state.
