Retired FAAN Staff Cries Out Over Alleged Destruction Of Residence By Imo State JTF

Nze Augustine Agu, a retired employee of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, or FAAN, at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State, has expressed outrage at the Joint Taskforce on Security in Imo State’s purported destruction of his home.

The State Joint Security Task Force troops had destroyed his personal house without cause, and the resentful retiree called on the Imo state government and concerned residents to come to his aid.

On February 24, 2024, retired staff member Mr. Agu took reporters around his complex to demonstrate the extent of the damage done to his home when security guards raided his family home.

Nze Agu, in tears, described his plight and appealed to the state administration and public-spirited people for assistance.

An indigene and community leader in Umueze, Obiangwu Autonomous Community, in the Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo state named Nze Agu revealed that a group of heavily armed security operatives stormed his home, smashing his Pathfinder Jeep car that was parked in the compound, breaking all of the doors, aluminium windows, the roof of his main building, his wife’s shop and the kitchen line.

The 66-year-old retiree expressed even more regret over the fact that following a violent physical attack, the agents detained and took his ailing wife, two of his daughters, daughter-in-law, and a 14-month-old grandson away.

He expressed concern that they remain in police detention and that circumstances outside of their control are impeding their ability to post bail.

Additionally, he disclosed that the security personnel conveyed to them that they were there to arrest his only son (name withheld) due to his alleged affiliation with the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.

Nze Agu went on to describe another arrest that occurred at the late Mr. Sylvanus Obiajunwa’s home, where a woman named Mrs. Christian Obiajunwa was physically beaten. We hope the elderly woman survives the abuse she endured at the hands of the security guards.

His words, “That fateful day, I wasn’t at home when the armed men invaded my house. I received calls that security men invaded my house. I was also told they had gone but with all the members of my family around, When I got back home in the evening, I discovered that my house had been ransacked, vandalized and my wife, daughters and grand son taken away by the security agents.

“I was told, they came looking for my first son, who had not visited home for over one year now even after his wife delivered a baby because some boys from a neighbouring community who were arrested by police for pro-Biafra activities mentioned his name as one of the IPOB members. I need the help of everyone please.”
