Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has announced the club’s decision to decline participation in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup due to dissatisfaction with the tournament’s prize money.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Giornale, Ancelotti stated unequivocally, “Real Madrid will NOT be participating in the FIFA Club World Cup. We will be joining other clubs in rejecting the invitation.”
Ancelotti elaborated on the financial aspects, highlighting the significant gap between the prize money offered by the competition and the revenue generated by a single Real Madrid match. “A single match for Real Madrid brings in €20m, and they expect us to settle for that amount for the entire tournament. It’s simply not feasible,” Ancelotti asserted.
