Presidency responds to Atiku’s criticisms, “Tinubu Inherited A Weak Economy”

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar, has come under fire from the Presidency for allegedly being hypocritical in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku was urged to be truthful and acknowledge that previous President Muhammadu Buhari left behind a faltering economy by his Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga stated that Tinubu was attempting to restructure Nigeria’s economy, in contrast to Atiku’s accusations.

A statement that Onanuga signed states, in part: “Nigerians are able to discern the hypocrisy of Atiku’s claims that President Tinubu is not doing enough to address the country’s problems and is inciting suffering and hopelessness. Atiku, in his presidential campaign, failed to present any more promising policies than President Tinubu’s agenda for economic reform.

“Atiku ought to be sincere enough to acknowledge that President Tinubu took over a fragile economy, which requires a total makeover in order to guarantee our nation’s survival.

Rather than bowing to criticism, Onanuga urged Atiku to inform Nigerians of what he would have done differently in the economy if he had been elected president.
