Renowned Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly referred to as Portable, has reached out to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging them not to apprehend him over allegations of naira abuse.
In light of recent legal actions against public figures like Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest for naira-related offenses, Portable took to Instagram Live to advocate for a shift in his financial practices. He implored his followers to transition to electronic banking, emphasizing his commitment to refrain from physically altering the currency.
“I haven’t defaced the Naira,” Portable asserted during the live session. “I’ve been a benefactor to many. Please forgive any past indiscretions. From now on, let’s focus on digital transactions.”
Acknowledging ongoing investigations by the EFCC into currency misuse involving celebrities, Portable’s plea reflects a broader scrutiny of public figures’ financial conduct.
