The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed new Commissioners of Police for the states of Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom. This development comes after the promotion of several senior police officers, leading to vacancies in key state commands.
According to a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, the newly appointed commissioners include Isah Danladi Nda for Abia State, Olarewaju Ishola Olawale for Lagos State, Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya for Ebonyi State, and Miller Gajere Dantawaye for Akwa Ibom State.
These appointments will see Nda taking over from Kenechukwu Onwuemelie in Abia, Olawale replacing Adegoke Fayoade in Lagos, Anya succeeding Augustina Ogbodo in Ebonyi, and Dantawaye stepping in for Waheed Ayilara in Akwa Ibom. The changes aim to bolster the leadership and operational efficiency of the police commands in these states.
DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the PSC, urged the new commissioners to hit the ground running and to prioritize the safety and security of their respective states. “Their performance will be closely monitored, and they are expected to create a competitive, competent, and efficient police force in their areas of jurisdiction,” Argungu emphasized.
