Police Nab Hotelier For Alleged Murder Of Staff In Imo

Obowo Divisional Headquarters arrested Ibe Obasi, 38, the owner of ‘Our Guest House’ in Umulogho, Imo State. He is accused of murdering Ebuka Udemba, a 25-year-old staff member from Umuokpa in Obowo LGA. The officer was killed by the suspect and two military personnel over a missing phone.

According to Imo police spokesman Henry Okoye, early investigations revealed that the victim was tortured and locked up inside the generator room by the culprit and two others at large, where he suffocated to death after being accused of stealing a customer’s handset. The suspect, he added, has been transported to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri to consolidate the ongoing investigation.

He has offered vital information that will assist command personnel in apprehending all suspects in connection with the case. While commiserating with the victim’s families, friends, and relatives, the Commissioner of Police strongly condemns the terrible crime and urges the people of Obowo LGA, particularly the residents of Umulogho, to abstain from taking the law into their own hands because the Command is on top of the matter.
