Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Speak Truth to Power

During the 10th anniversary of the Alaigbo Development Foundation, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, expressed concern over the lack of individuals willing to speak truth to power in Nigeria.

Addressing the audience on Saturday, Obi lamented the prevalence of sycophants who only tell leaders what they want to hear. He highlighted his tenure as the Governor of Anambra State, emphasizing his prudent management of public funds and dedication to public service.

Obi criticized the rampant greed among public officials, which he believes is the root cause of Nigeria’s challenges. He called on Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable and reject hero worship.

“What we lack in Nigeria are people who can tell you when you are wrong. Leaders must listen to the people because it is the people who put them in office,” Obi asserted. “Public money must be used for public purposes.”

Reflecting on his time in office, Obi proudly stated that he left no debts, including pensions and contractor payments, and saved $150 million for Anambra State. He urged continuous prayers for leaders to govern with integrity and the fear of God.
