Peter Obi Mourns Iwuanyanwu

Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has conveyed deep sorrow over the unexpected death of Mr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

 

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, took to his X handle on Friday to share his grief, describing the late Ohanaeze leader as a pivotal figure whose loss is profoundly felt.

 

Reflecting on Iwuanyanwu’s legacy, Obi remarked, “I am profoundly disheartened by the passing of Mr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, an esteemed elder statesman and the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The devastating news has left everyone who knew him heartbroken.”

 

He praised Iwuanyanwu as a unifying force dedicated to the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria. “He was not just a father to many but a bridge builder whose commitment to national unity will be remembered fondly,” Obi added.

 

Acknowledging Iwuanyanwu’s patriotism and commitment to justice and equity, Obi noted, “He was a true patriot whose vision for justice, equity, progress, and development transcended tribal lines. His guidance has always been invaluable to me.”

 

Obi also shared personal sentiments, recalling, “He assured me of his recovery and his eagerness to continue contributing to the nation’s progress. My prayers were always with him for a swift recovery.”

 

In his message of condolence, Obi extended heartfelt sympathies to Iwuanyanwu’s family, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo community, and the entire nation. “I sincerely extend my condolences to his immediate family, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the entire nation on the loss of this esteemed patriarch,” he expressed.

 

Concluding his tribute, Obi prayed for strength for all affected by this loss and for Iwuanyanwu’s eternal rest.
