Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, expressing delight, confirmed Obi’s visit via Twitter. Notably, Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 elections. Additionally, a close confidant of Obi disclosed a similar visit to Sule Lamido.
Atiku shared snapshots of the encounters, describing it as an honor to host Peter Obi.

In a separate development, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, shed light on Peter Obi’s departure from the PDP during an interview. He attributed Nyesom Wike’s influence in Obi’s exit, citing Wike’s push for the presidential ticket to be zoned to the South. Atiku expressed readiness to allocate the ticket to the Southeast, a stance met with resistance from Wike.
