Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, in a remarkable show of support for humanitarian efforts, has pledged ₦120 million to the Holy Rosary Sisters. The donation, which commemorates their 100th anniversary, aims to bolster the Sisters’ ongoing contributions in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
During the 10th-anniversary celebration of Holy Rosary College in Nsugbe, which also marked a century of the Holy Rosary Sisters, Peter Obi announced the donation. His pledge will be divided into two portions: ₦100 million allocated for projects at the Sisters’ headquarters in Enugu, with a focus on education and healthcare, and ₦20 million for Holy Rosary College, Nsugbe.
Speaking on X.com, Obi elaborated on the commitment, stating: “I pledged ₦120 million over the next two years. Of this amount, ₦100 million will be directed through their headquarters in Enugu, dedicated to their educational, healthcare, and humanitarian efforts, including the facilities they are building in Nsukka. The remaining ₦20 million is specifically for Holy Rosary College, Nsugbe, as part of redeeming a cheque I signed for them towards the end of my tenure as Governor, which was later canceled by the succeeding government.”
Obi praised the Holy Rosary Sisters for their relentless dedication to humanity, emphasizing how their century-long mission has positively impacted countless lives. He encouraged them to continue their selfless service, particularly in education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.
