Peter Obi Criticizes Alleged Deportation of Osun Indigenes from Lagos

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, has spoken out against the reported ‘deportation’ of Osun indigenes from Lagos State, labeling it a violation of citizens’ rights.

Reports emerged suggesting that the Lagos State Government initiated the deportation of Osun indigenes from the state, with police officers reportedly picking them up from various locations including Ajah, TBS, and Lagos Island.

In a statement shared via his verified social media handle, Obi condemned the alleged deportation, emphasizing its implications for national unity and justice.

Expressing his concern, Obi stated, “I am deeply saddened and shocked by the recent reports of the deportation of citizens mostly of Osun State origin by Lagos State authorities. This is not merely a concern for Osun State but for all Nigerians who uphold the principles of unity, fairness, and justice.”
