Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, recently visited the victims of a tragic mosque attack in the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. He shared images of the victims in hospital beds, highlighting the severity of their injuries.
Expressing his condolences, Obi emphasized the need for solidarity and condemned all forms of violence. He visited the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in Kano to offer support to the injured, extend sympathies, and encourage their swift recovery.
In light of the incident, Obi called for peace, tolerance, and unity in the country, while also urging for forgiveness for the deceased. The attack, which occurred during a morning prayer session, claimed the lives of 15 individuals according to the Kano State Police Command.
The assailant reportedly sprayed petrol inside the mosque, locked its doors, and set it ablaze, resulting in tragic consequences. The death toll initially stood at one but later rose as more victims succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
