In a recent discussion with his supporters on his Verified X space, hosted by Parallel Facts, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, hinted at the possibility of departing from the party ahead of the 2027 election season.
Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, emphasized his unwavering commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, regardless of party affiliations. He stated that the contrived crisis within the Labour Party was merely a distraction from the crucial issues facing the nation, such as water, power, employment, and security.
Drawing on a biblical reference, Obi highlighted his intention to strive for change within the party but made it clear that he would not allow it to hinder his mission. He affirmed, “We will try to change them (LP), if we can’t, we will leave them; we will not die with them.”
