The bench warrant that the Abia State Judicial Panel on the recovery of government properties and funds issued against Chikwendu Ahiwe, an auctioneer, for allegedly taking a 125KVA generator set from General Hospital Isuikwuato LGA is still in effect, according to Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe (Rtd), the panel’s chairman.
After hearing a five-counter affidavit and a written submission brought before the Panel by the respondent Mr. Onyemachi Matthew’s counsel, Justice Duruoha-Igwe stated that the main purpose of the bench warrant on Ahiwe was to make sure he produced the generator or its ₦7 million monetary value.

The matter was adjourned on 21/2/24 in the presence of the respondent’s counsel, as the Lead Counsel to the Panel Chief, H. N. Doruoha, had previously brought to the Panel’s attention in his argument.
The lead counsel deemed the respondent’s attorney’s move to vacate the bench warrant for the auctioneer to be without substance.
Mr. Matthew, the attorney for Mr. Chikwendu Ahiwe, however, stated that his client is presenting two cases to the panel. He specifically mentioned that his client was not informed of one of the cases in which he was ordered to be arrested, and he asked the panel to grant him additional time to produce the 125KVA generator.
