Dr. Ben Nwoye, the immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has called on Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the party’s South East Zonal Chairman, to form a committee to look into allegations of abuse against significant party supporters in the state. He said it was shameful that the Ugo Agballah-led leadership had allegedly mistreated former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former Governor Sullivan Chime, Federal Commissioner Ginika Tor, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, among others, under the pretence of rebuilding the APC in the state.
Nwoye made the appeal yesterday in response to alleged decisions taken following an APC stakeholder meeting that was attended by Ugo Agballah, the party’s state chairman, and other attendees. During the meeting, the stakeholders indicated that they were willing to reevaluate the suspension and expulsion of a number of party members, including Osita Okechukwu, Eugene Odoh, Nnamani, Chime, Tor, Onyeama, and Nwoye. Nwoye implored Arodiogbu to warn the state leadership, pointing out that it’s disgraceful that those who have suffered for the party—the national caucus members—are being used as scapegoats for “dissidents.”
Referring to Arodiogbu as “a father to everybody,” the former chairman of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Enugu maintained that the elections had concluded and that “what is needed now is for members of the party to come together to work for 2027 victory in Enugu state.”

He said: “This call has become important because we cannot continue to pretend that all is well with the Enugu chapter of APC. Just last week, the grassroots members of the party met in Enugu and passed a vote of no confidence on Agballa. It is this kind of problem that we may carry into the 2027 elections if not checked. I am appealing to the South East Zonal Chairman to set up a committee and investigate the state leadership to reconcile grievances in the party ahead of the next elections.
“Nnamani and Chime don’t deserve the abuses that Agballah is giving to them; we need to rebuild APC in Enugu State. We need to come together so that we will do better in future elections.”
Nwoye pointed out that even though Agballah became the party’s chairman without a congress, he still needed to bring the party together now that he was officially the chairman.
