Six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over suspicions of involvement in a N6bn fraud scheme.
The detained officers are currently undergoing questioning at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. This move follows a directive from the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, who handed over the officers to the EFCC for interrogation.
While specifics of the investigation remain limited, insider sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had previously communicated with the NSCDC Commandant General, requesting the officers’ transfer for scrutiny.
An undisclosed source affirmed, “Six senior NSCDC officers are presently under our custody, undergoing interrogation regarding alleged fraudulent activities amounting to over N6bn.”

Echoing the confirmation, another source clarified, “The EFCC’s focus is solely on the six senior NSCDC officers; the Commandant General is neither detained nor under investigation. The officers were surrendered to us upon the EFCC Chairman’s request and are currently undergoing thorough interrogation.”
Efforts to obtain comments from EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, proved futile as calls and messages to his contacts remained unanswered.
When approached for remarks, NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, expressed unawareness of the situation, stating, “I’m not aware of this,” via a brief WhatsApp message.
