Aloy Ejimakor, the principal attorney for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has raised concerns about Kanu’s health and alleged denial of medical care.
In a statement on Tuesday via X.com, Ejimakor revealed that Kanu exhibited worrying symptoms during a visit on Monday. Kanu was reportedly suffering from shortness of breath, low blood pressure, and general malaise.
Ejimakor detailed the steps taken to secure medical attention for Kanu. “During our visit with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we observed he was ill with shortness of breath, low BP, and general discomfort. Consequently, we requested a medical consultation and submitted a formal letter. However, despite the arrival of the doctor at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility today, access to Kanu was denied.”
The situation has raised alarm among Kanu’s supporters and human rights advocates. In March, IPOB issued a statement urging the Federal Government to release Kanu, citing his deteriorating health. His family has also expressed grave concerns, stating that Kanu requires the attention of a cardiologist and imploring President Bola Tinubu to ensure he does not succumb to his health issues while in DSS custody.
