President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to dialogue with Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Niger Republic, despite recent coups and their withdrawal from ECOWAS. Tinubu emphasized the importance of maintaining regional cooperation while addressing African leaders at the AU summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He pledged Nigeria’s support for the establishment of the African Central Bank by 2028 and expressed readiness to host it as outlined in the Abuja Treaty.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the continent, Tinubu stressed the need for solidarity and resolution to address conflicts and promote democratic governance and economic development.
Regarding recent military takeovers in the region, Tinubu urged for reconciliation and cooperation, emphasizing the significance of regional unity over individual interests.
On the theme of education, Tinubu underscored its critical role in addressing Africa’s longstanding challenges. He outlined Nigeria’s efforts in reforming its educational system to foster innovation and prepare youths for the global economy.
Tinubu concluded by calling for a concerted effort to reshape education systems to promote peace, democracy, and conflict resolution across Africa.
