The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) and the Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday as part of PISE-P’s major advocacy for regional peace. During the signing ceremony, a model for Community Enterprise Digital Hubs, which will be established throughout the five states of the South-East region, was unveiled.
Remember that the PISE-P, an initiative of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was recently introduced in the Southeast to promote non-kinetic means of peacekeeping in order to address the long-standing sociological issues that have been upsetting the local populace.
The Deputy Speaker stated during his keynote speech at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that the initiative’s goal was to close the digital divide in a number of constituencies, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas with an emphasis on the South-East.

“The South East region, which was formerly regarded as a center for entrepreneurial endeavors, is currently confronted with a multitude of socio-economic challenges,” he stated. Increased rates of unemployment, inflation, and security risks have impeded the area’s capacity to flourish. PISE-P understands how critical it is to address these issues, bring about peace, and unleash the region’s unrealized potential.

In addition, the Deputy Speaker urged other government departments, non-governmental organizations, and kindhearted people to follow NIGCOMSAT’s patriotic lead and assist PISE-P in utilizing its line-up of programs for employment, development, reconciliation, and the restoration of complete peace in the South-East region.
