The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant arrests in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, uncovering a drug trafficking operation involving cakes laced with cannabis sativa.
Jennifer Iliya, 28, was apprehended for her involvement in producing and distributing these drugged cakes, with a substantial quantity of 1.5kg seized during her arrest.
In a related incident, Josephine Odunu, 20, and Edesemi Ikporo, 30, were also arrested in Yenagoa for similar offenses, highlighting the agency’s crackdown on illicit drug activities.
Meanwhile, at the Lagos airport, NDLEA officers intercepted Yahaya Danjuma Oturah attempting to export 4,000 pills of tramadol 225mg to Italy. The pills were cleverly concealed in women’s wear and granulated melon packed in the suspect’s backpack.
Oturah confessed to being a courier, hired for €700 to deliver the consignment in Italy, underscoring the global reach of drug trafficking networks.

In Kaduna, Joseph Dadik, 47, and Bensha Yari, 32, were arrested with 24,180 ampoules of pentazocine injection, while in Adamawa State, Adamu Umar, 18, was nabbed with 20.700kg of cannabis.
Further raids in Mushin, Lagos, led to the recovery of 310.7kg of cannabis, with additional seizures in Kano and Edo States, demonstrating the widespread nature of illicit drug trade in Nigeria.
These arrests come on the heels of earlier operations, including the detention of Chidinma Chinenye-Agbazue, 35, for attempting to export cannabis sativa concealed in African salad and dried vegetables to Qatar.
The NDLEA remains vigilant in its efforts to combat drug trafficking, safeguarding communities from the detrimental effects of illicit substances.
