The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended three suspects, including an eight-month pregnant woman, Favour Peter (24), Esther Adukwu (27), and Ochigbo Michael (39), for possession of N3.2 million in counterfeit currency. The arrest took place at Jabi park in Abuja, as announced by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement shared on the agency’s website.
The statement detailed the agency’s recent operations, including the interception of a commercial bus transporting the fake cash. Additionally, other arrests were made across various states, with seizures of cannabis and other illicit substances.
The crackdown spanned several states, including Cross River, Kano, Imo, Ekiti, Ondo, and Ogun. Notable seizures include a lethal new psychoactive substance called ‘Combine,’ produced and sold by a 40-year-old widow in Calabar, and significant quantities of cannabis intercepted in different locations.
The NDLEA’s vigilance led to the arrest of individuals involved in drug trafficking and the confiscation of large quantities of narcotics, contributing to efforts to curb illicit drug activities across Nigeria.
