The National Assembly reconvened on Tuesday, resuming plenary sessions after its annual recess, which began in late July. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas led the proceedings in their respective chambers, with several correspondences from President Bola Tinubu being read.
Among the president’s communications were a Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the nomination of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun for confirmation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and a request to confirm commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
President Tinubu also informed the National Assembly of his decision to reject a bill proposing the extension of service years for the Clerk to the National Assembly and other parliamentary staff.
