MTN and Tappi Forge Partnership to Expand Commerce in Côte D’Ivoire

Tappi, the comprehensive digital commerce solution tailored for Africa’s micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), has unveiled its expansion into Côte D’Ivoire, solidifying its footprint in the region.

In a recent statement, Tappi announced its strategic move, building upon its successful operations in Kenya and Nigeria. The expansion includes a strengthened partnership with MTN, a leading telecom provider in the country, underscoring Tappi’s commitment to advancing the digital transformation of MSMEs across Africa.

Tappi’s entry into Côte d’Ivoire offers MSMEs access to its Software as a Service (SaaS) platform and enterprise-grade tools at an affordable rate of $8 per month. These tools empower businesses to swiftly create SEO-optimized websites in under two minutes, launch online advertising campaigns, and unlock a suite of additional digital services.

Through its collaboration with MTN Côte d’Ivoire, the platform will be accessible to the telecom’s vast customer base of 17 million users. Integrated data bundles will enable MTN customers to seamlessly leverage Tappi’s services, enhancing their online presence, fostering trust, and expanding their reach to new clientele.

Kenfield Griffith, CEO and co-founder of Tappi, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting Côte d’Ivoire’s robust GDP growth rate of 6.9%. He emphasized the country’s potential as a pivotal market for empowering MSMEs to embrace digitization and broaden their customer base, positioning it as a gateway to Francophone Africa’s 150 million consumers.

Griffith underscored the importance of the partnership with MTN, lauding the telecom’s extensive reach, scale, and infrastructure as instrumental in facilitating technology adoption among MSMEs.

Since its inception in 2022, Tappi has experienced rapid growth, garnering verified reviews on over $3 million in consumer transactions and engaging with over 150,000 consumers. Despite SMEs comprising over 98% of total businesses in Côte d’Ivoire, many still struggle to establish a credible online presence due to complexities in existing tools and payment requirements.

Djibril Ouattara, CEO of MTN Côte D’Ivoire, affirmed MTN’s commitment to spearheading digital innovation, aligning with its Ambition 2025 strategy. He emphasized the telecom’s dedication to empowering MSMEs through connectivity, communication, collaboration, and cloud solutions, driving sustainable growth in the digital era.

The partnership between Tappi and MTN heralds a new chapter in advancing digital commerce and empowering MSMEs in Côte d’Ivoire, poised to unlock immense opportunities for economic development and business expansion.
