New developments reveal that the Lagos State Government has obtained the toxicology test results to determine the cause of death of late music sensation, Mohbad, and has forwarded it to the police for further investigation.
Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, sparking controversies on social media surrounding the circumstances of his death. A former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad parted ways with the label in February 2022.
Following his demise, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death. This incident also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, among others, although they were later released on bail pending trial.
The singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023. While the external autopsy was completed, the toxicology test, crucial for determining internal factors, was conducted in the United States.

According to reliable sources, the toxicology report was recently received by the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre and subsequently transmitted to the police. However, due to the medical complexity of the report, it has been sent to the pathologist who conducted the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.
As of press time, officials including the Lagos State Attorney-General, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, and the Police Public Relations Officer were unavailable for comment.
Earlier statements from the Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, anticipated the toxicology results within three to four weeks, emphasizing rigorous procedures to ensure accuracy and security.
This latest development brings renewed hope for clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic demise, as authorities continue their efforts to unravel the truth.
