Minority Caucus Pushes for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release: 180 Lawmakers Appeal to President Tinubu

A significant move has been initiated by the minority caucus in the House of Representatives, as 180 federal lawmakers call on President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The motion was championed by Obi Aguocha, a member of the Labour Party representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South federal constituencies in Abia. The appeal has garnered support from members of various opposition parties, including the PDP, LP, NNPP, APGA, SDP, YPP, and ADC.

At a recent session dinner held in Abuja, Aguocha urged his colleagues to adopt a unified stance on Kanu’s case, emphasizing the need for a political solution. He stressed that resolving this issue peacefully is vital for national peace, stability, and unity.

In his address, Aguocha also highlighted other critical issues being tackled by the opposition parties, including planned protests, national insecurity, deteriorating infrastructure, and economic challenges. He emphasized that addressing these issues requires a decisive and collective effort from all minority caucus members.
