As part of the state’s strategic plan, the Enugu State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has committed to increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue from ₦4.4 billion to ₦30 billion each year.
The guarantee was given by the honorable commissioner for culture and tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, who also revealed that the ministry will shortly start identifying the more than 100 tourist attractions that are now in existence. This will be a crucial instrument in helping to position Enugu state as the top travel destination. According to her, this kind of growth will help the ministry address issues facing the locations, particularly those that are in rural areas.
In an interview with reporters at the State Secretariat in Enugu, Madueke stated that the implementation of a uniform e-ticketing system in tourism establishments will spur economic expansion and that e-ticketing will significantly lessen unethical behavior in the surrounding community.
She claimed that Enugu State is blessed with a wide variety of excellent tourism resources and that the state is fortunate in terms of tourism whether or not it has access to cutting-edge amenities.
