Military vows to retaliate IPOB’s killing of soldiers in Abia

 

Following the tragic killing of five soldiers at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia State, by members of the proscribed Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the Military High Command has vowed to retaliate with decisive action.

 

In a statement issued by Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, the military assured the public of its determination to bring overwhelming pressure on the group responsible for the attack.

 

The incident occurred at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, where troops of Operation UDO KA were deployed to maintain peace and security. The attackers, identified as terrorists affiliated with IPOB/ESN, launched a surprise assault on the checkpoint, resulting in the tragic loss of five brave soldiers.

 

Gen. Buba expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, emphasizing the immense sacrifice made by each serviceman in the line of duty. He highlighted the ongoing investigation into the attack, underscoring the military’s commitment to justice.

As investigations continue and preparations for a robust response are underway, the military remains steadfast in its duty to protect the nation and uphold peace and stability in the region.
