Dr. Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State, has stated that he is a firm believer in the Igbo race’s ability to prosper economically, provided that their natural and human resources are used to their fullest potential. In a one-day retreat held in Enugu under the subject ‘Ako Bu Ije’ (knowledge is the journey), the governor made this statement while being represented by his deputy, Ifeanyi Ossai. As the leadership of the leading Igbo socio-cultural organisation continues to strive for Igbo community unity and sustainable development, Ossai praised them for their sacrifices.
Mbah said: “We must think of home, and the best way to do this is by making it viable. We must unleash the person in us and do away with the mentality that anyone is holding us down.” He reiterated some of the efforts of the state government towards tackling social issues, especially in education.
The governor went on to say that because the battle is finished, NdÃgbo should be more focused on how to change the people’s fortunes. He emphasised that the elimination of trains from the exclusive list has left the Ohanaeze economic committee with a significant burden. He pointed out that the group ought to consider establishing a regional common market and economic integration, emphasising the usefulness of the railway system in doing this.

He stated that Igbos should be interested in making dry ports operate and exploring their access to the ocean, which he believes is shorter than what they have in Dubai. Speaking earlier, the event’s Chairman, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke, stated that the event’s motto, “Ako Na Uche Bu Ije Anyi” (knowledge is our path), says it all.
