Lagos State Governor Welcomes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State played host to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, during their visit to Nigeria. The royal couple was warmly received at Lagos House, Marina, where they engaged in discussions with Governor Sanwo-Olu, his wife Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and other members of the State Executive Council.

 

The purpose of Prince Harry’s three-day visit to Nigeria is to promote the Invictus Games, an initiative he founded in 2014. This global event aims to raise funds and provide support to current and former military personnel, aiding them in overcoming physical and mental challenges while fostering a sense of community and empowerment.

Following a private meeting with the royal couple, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended their dedication to supporting the nation’s military community, particularly in addressing mental health issues. He expressed gratitude for their interest in collaborating with Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and his wife, Mrs. Lilian Musa, emphasizing the importance of promoting mental well-being and unity within the country.
