Residents of Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos are facing challenges in registering and obtaining their National Identity Numbers (NIN) from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Visiting the NIMC office in Ikotun, Alimosho LGA, our correspondent found hundreds of residents waiting in line, some as early as 6 a.m., hoping to secure a spot for registration.
A resident, Mr. Adekunle Adewole, expressed frustration, stating that it was his third attempt to register without success. Despite arriving early, he found the place already crowded.
“I got number 55, hoping to be attended to before the end of the day,” Adewole said, urging the government to provide more resources to speed up the process.
Another resident, Mrs. Abibat Adekanbi, echoed Adewole’s sentiments, describing the registration process as unnecessarily difficult.
