Five suspected kidnappers in Ondo State were apprehended after their victims managed to escape while the criminals dozed off. The victims, including a pastor’s wife and two others, evaded captivity when the kidnappers fell asleep during transit, purportedly due to the effects of hard drugs they had ingested.
Identified as Garuba Mumuni (27), Yusuf Tale (21), Kabiru Muhammed (16), Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed (22), the suspects were swiftly apprehended by officers from the Ofosu Division following the victims’ identification of one of them.
According to police reports, the abduction occurred in various locations, including a church where the pastor’s wife and a member were seized, and a farm where another victim was taken while collecting snails. Remarkably, all three managed to escape from their captors on separate occasions, capitalizing on the kidnappers’ incapacitation.
“On May 1, 2024, five of the six suspected kidnappers were apprehended by our officers based on intelligence gathered,” stated police authorities. “The victims positively identified the arrested individuals as members of the gang responsible for their abduction.”
