Kidnapped Igbo Businessman in Kwara Released After Family Pays N10 Million Ransom

Emeka Nwachukwu, a prominent Igbo businessman kidnapped last Wednesday in Kwara State, has regained his freedom after his family paid a ransom of N10 million. Nwachukwu, who was abducted from his clinic in the Kosubosu area of Baruten Local Government, was released on Sunday, four days after the harrowing incident.

According to a family insider, the kidnappers initially demanded a steep N100 million ransom but eventually settled for N10 million. The family, under immense pressure, managed to gather the amount to secure his release.

The abduction, which took place at around 8:30 p.m., threw the local community into a state of fear and uncertainty. In response, the Kwara State Police Command launched a rescue mission. While confirming Nwachukwu’s release, a police source disclosed that officers are actively working to trace and apprehend the culprits involved in the kidnapping.
