Journalist Escapes Stray Bullet at Kano Government House

A journalist affiliated with Abubakar Rimi Television, Naziru Idris Ya’u, narrowly avoided a serious injury on Friday evening when he was struck by a stray bullet while at the Kano State Government House.

 

The exact source of the stray bullet, which struck Naziru Ya’u around 6:30 pm, remains unidentified as of Saturday morning. Both security personnel and Government House officials have remained tight-lipped about the incident.

 

Following the incident, Naziru Ya’u was promptly taken to the Government House clinic for medical attention, where it was noted by medical staff that he was fortunate as the bullet had not been fired from a close range.

 

In response to the occurrence, police officers stationed at the Government House have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As of the time of this report, neither the Kano Government House nor the State Police Command has issued an official statement regarding the shooting.

 

Efforts to contact the Director General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, proved unsuccessful as he declined multiple phone calls from our correspondent.

 

However, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP Haruna Abdullahi, stated that the incident had not been formally reported to the command and assured that he would look into the matter.
