Joint Security Team Bursts Gunmen’s Camp, Recovers Vehicles, Ammunitions

The Anambra State Joint Security Force broke through the sit-at-home camp in Achalla, Awka North local government area, injuring numerous people.

During the drill, the crew also took ammunition and a few fancy cars from the agitators.

Commissioner of Police Aderemi Adeoye gave the order for the operation.

Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu said in a statement on Tuesday in Awka that the operation caught the proponents of sit-at-homes off guard.

According to him, many of them ran away with bloody tracks from bullet wounds.

He said: “The previous Monday, the hoodlums had ordered traders to stay at home and disrupted trading at Achalla Market.”

“This drew attention of the Security Apparatus in the State which made the State Police Command to decide on giving them a taste of their own medicine in the early hours of Monday 19th February, 2024.”

The Command reports that the retrieved materials include 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammo for the Ak-47 rifle, over 300 rounds of machine gun ammunition, and five exotic automobiles that were earlier taken at gunpoint.

Ikenga went on to say that hospitals and clinics would be included in the search for the group’s fugitives.
