A film producer, Michael Ofuonye, has voiced his disagreement with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for suspending the movie “Another Side of Life” and its producer, Adanma Luke, in the aftermath of a boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor Jnr Pope and four others.
Ofuonye, recalling a similar experience from 18 years ago involving the late J.T. Tom West, emphasized the importance of completing the movie as a tribute to Jnr Pope’s memory. He highlighted the potential closure it could provide for the late actor’s family, cast, and crew, suggesting that donating a portion of the profits to his family would be a thoughtful gesture.
Expressing regret over the fate of his own unreleased movie, Ofuonye stressed the significant financial loss incurred due to the project’s termination following the tragic incident. He underscored the missed opportunity for fans to witness the last performance of J.T. Tom West.
Regarding Tom-West’s untimely demise, Ofuonye clarified that the actor passed away due to internal bleeding, dispelling earlier reports of him being shot with live bullets on set.

In light of the accident, Ofuonye emphasized the importance of conducting thorough investigations and implementing safety protocols and insurance policies within the film industry to prevent similar incidents in the future. He advocated for a collaborative approach in addressing safety concerns rather than resorting to punitive measures against individuals involved in production.
